WAUSAU, Wis. - A two-out, two-run double by Ben Long (UW-Milwaukee) in the fifth inning gave the Wisconsin Woodchucks their only lead and led them to a 4-2 victory over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Monday night at Athletic Park.
In the third, the bottom of the order struck for the Lunkers. Dennis O'Grady (Duke) doubled off the left-field wall and Zack Stewart (Ohio Dominican) followed with a single. An error on Stewart's hit helped the Lunkers score their first run.
The Lunkers' defense helped the Woodchucks an inning later. With two outs, a throwing error brought home the first Wisconsin run and tied the game 1-1. In the fifth, Long's double put the Woodchucks in front to stay.
Mike Marshall's solo home run in the eighth gave Wisconsin an insurance run.
Shon Roe (Loyola Marymount) finished 2-for-3 with two singles, an RBI and a walk. He was the only Lunker with two hits.
The Lunkers meet the Woodchucks at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Athletic Park.
