Three of the seniors played notable roles in the 4-0 win over Colorado College. Senior wing Easton Brodzinski (Blaine, Minn.) scored two goals, senior forward Kevin Fitzgerald (Hinsdale, Ill.) had a goal and senior goalie Dávid Hrenák (Považská Bystrica, Slovakia) made 23 saves to pick up the shutout.
Despite the win, North Dakota clinched its second straight Penrose Cup as NCHC regular season champions with a 7-1 win over Nebraska Omaha in Grand Forks.
The Huskies (14-8-0) solidified their hold on second place. St. Cloud State has 43 points going into the last weekend of the regular season and has a four-point lead over third-place Minnesota Duluth (12-8-2). The Huskies and Bulldogs have a home-and-home series with the teams playing at 7:37 p.m. Friday at the Brooks Center and at 7:07 p.m. Saturday (CBS Sports Network) at Amsoil Arena.
UMD leads fourth-place Nebraska Omaha (13-8-1) by one point going into the final weekend. The Mavericks have two games remaining with North Dakota (17-4-1). The teams play at 7:07 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Baxter Arena and 7:37 p.m. Friday, March 5 at Engelstad Arena.
