ST. PAUL — The bar set for the University of Denver hockey team is pretty high. The Pioneers have won eight national titles and been to the Frozen Four 17 times. So when Denver did not make the 16-team NCAA Division I tournament field last season, it was a bit of a shocker. When the Pioneers made the Frozen Four in 2019, it was for the third time in four years. Before last season, Denver was picked to finish second in the NCHC and received one first-place vote. The Pioneers ended up finishing sixth in the NCHC and 10-13-1 overall. With a large group of key returning players and a talented freshman class, the Pioneers are eager to erase that showing with a much better season in 2021-22.

Coach David Carle (top video) and senior Cole Guttman discuss all of this and more with The Rink Live's Jess Myers and Mick Hatten.
