ST. CLOUD, Minn. — From 2003-08, the St. Cloud State men's hockey team had a big transition as the Huskies' first NCAA Division I head coach (Craig Dahl) left the team and was replaced by Bob Motzko. Motzko was the team's head coach from 2005-18.

St. Cloud State made the national tournament in 2007 and 2008.

Key members of those teams included goalie Bobby Goepfert, defensemen Casey Borer and Grant Clafton, forwards Andrew Gordon, Marty Mjelleli and Andrew Gordon.

The players reunite from their homes in Minnesota, Iowa and Nova Scotia.

Borer played for the Huskies from 2003-07. In 149 career college games, he had five goals, 36 assists, 41 points and 112 penalty minutes. From 2006-11, he played in the AHL and NHL in the Carolina Hurricanes organization and played six seasons in Germany and also played in the Czech Republic and in Asia before retiring in 2019. He was a two-year captain for the Huskies.

Clafton played for the Huskies from 2003-07. In 131 career games, he had 12 goals, 30 assists, 42 points and 100 penalty minutes. He played professionally in the ECHL and CHL. He is the head coach of the Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin Raiders High School boys team.

Goepfert played for the Huskies from 2005-07. In 73 career games, he was 37-24-11 with a .924 save percentage, 2.24 goals-against average and six shutouts. Goepfert was an All-WCHA First Team pick in both of his seasons with the Huskies and a top 10 Hobey Baker Award finalist in 07. He played professionally in the ECHL and AHL and six seasons in Germany before retiring in 2018. He is an assistant coach in the USHL for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Gordon played for the Huskies from 2004-07. In 120 career games, he had 51 goals, 51 assists, 102 points and 44 penalty minutes. Gordon was an All-WCHA First Team pick in 2006-07 He played in the ECHL, AHL and NHL and has played the last five seasons in Sweden.

Mjelleli played for the Huskies from 2004-08. In 71 career games, he had seven goals, 14 assists, 21 points and 28 penalty minutes. In 2007-08, Mjelleli was a CLASS All-Senior First Team All-American. In 2014, he co-wrote the book "St. Cloud State Hockey: Guts, Goals and Glory" with Sean LaFavor.
