ABERDEEN, S.D. — A Florida man has been charged with simple assault for punching an adult male in the face early Saturday morning at the Zoo Bar in Aberdeen.

The victim of the assault is believed to be Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.

The incident was reported at 1:07 a.m. Saturday, June 20, according to for “punching an adult male in the face, according to Brown County Communications Center dispatch reports.

A video circulating social media platforms shows the alleged video surveillance footage of the incident, which shows a two male facing each other and appearing to be talking to one another when another man, believed to be Hadala, rushes into the frame and punches one of the two men, believed to be Goedert, in the face just as his head turned to face the assailant.

Hadala’s next court appearance on the misdemeanor charge is July 10 at the Brown County Courthouse.

This isn’t the first time the Zoo Bar has made headlines for assaults where the victim was blindsided by a punch in the hour before closing time.

Former Roberts County Sheriff Elect Korey J. Ware was found guilty of felony aggravated assault by a jury for punching another man Oct. 6 of 2018.

According to South Dakota Supreme Court case documents, Ware had blindsided another man with a punch that broke the victim’s jaw.

Ware was at the Zoo Bar with his girlfriend when he saw his girlfriend’s ex boyfriend, Taylor Kwas, at the bar, the documents state.

“After walking away from his girlfriend then looking back to see Kwas approaching her, Ware rushed towards Kwas, slammed his beer on the table and pushed Kwas on the left side of his face. Kwas had no idea the punch was coming. The blow to Kwas’s jaw was completely unexpected.”

Goedert’s injuries were treated at an Aberdeen hospital and he has since been released and is recovering.

Avonte Maddox, Lane Johnson, Rasul Douglas, Boston Scott have commented on Twitter about assault on their teammate in reply to the alleged video of the assault.

“Yeah, lucky I wasn’t there. Would have some problems deadass,” Maddox tweeted.

Replying to Maddox’s tweet, Douglas wrote, “Swear to everything I’d be in jail right now.”

Goedert is a Britton native and South Dakota State University alum.
