ST. PAUL (AP) -- An 18-year-old Minneapolis man was in jail Monday on suspicion that he carjacked a Ford Excursion containing a 62-year-old grandmother in St. Paul on Sunday.

St. Paul police said the owner of the vehicle and her two children, all of Brooklyn Center, were outside the car while the owner's mother stayed in the vehicle.

When the suspect jumped into the driver's seat to drive away, the car owner grabbed the door post and was dragged about 150 feet, Police Cmdr. Mark Pearson said. She let go after her mother jumped out of the vehicle.

The car owner was believed to have sprained her ankle and her mother suffered cuts and bruises. Both were treated at United Hospital.
