Rev. James G. Kloster
The Rev. Jim Kloster, 87, Fargo ND, died October 28, 2018 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Jim was born June 28, 1931, to Jacob and Gertrude Kloster in Clearbrook, MN. He graduated from Clearbook High School in 1949 and attended Lutheran Bible Institute, Waldorf College, and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1957 and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN in 1961. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany.
Jim was ordained as an ELCA Lutheran pastor in 1961 and served parishes in Brandon, MN, Chicago, IL, Chaffee, ND, Embden, ND, and Mandan, ND. After retirement as a full-time pastor and a move to Fargo, ND, Jim continued his ministry work as a staff Chaplain for 11 years at the Fargo Veterans' Hospital. Jim retired after a full 52 years of ministry.
Jim married the love of his life Midge (Sunde) Kloster on January 30, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN. Jim felt richly blessed in his life. He was eternally grateful for the privilege of serving in the Holy Ministry and for the gifts of faith, forgiveness and eternal life. Jim cherished his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Our deepest gratitude to the Fargo VA Hospital for the compassionate medical care that Jim received there. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of the Red River Valley and our dear, dear Stephanie and Staci.
Jim is survived by his wife, Midge, and four children, Todd, Chicago, IL, Colin (Julie), Fargo, ND, Dave (Heather), Minnetonka, MN, and Mark, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Josh Kloster, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Tenley and Kellen Kloster, Fargo, ND, Justin and Ryan Kloster, Minnetonka, MN; sister JoAnn (Doug) Stillwell, Elk River, MN, brother-in-law Barry Rossum, Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his son Tal, parents Jacob and Gertrude, brothers Tally, Orvis, Morris, Donny, and sister, Darlene.
Visitation: Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 5 - 8 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th Street South, Fargo, ND.
Funeral Service: Friday, November 2, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Olivet Lutheran Church, 1330 University Drive South, Fargo, ND.
Burial: Burial services will be at the Fargo Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery at a later date.
