BISMARCK -- North Dakota's Meadowlark Initiative is in place to promote and create healthy, thriving grasslands.

The state has lost more than 70% of its native prairie to other uses over the years.

The initiative is designed to provide biodiversity and prosperity for wildlife, pollinators, ranching operations and communities by supporting ranching, establishing grasslands, offsetting developmental impacts, promoting societal benefits, and advancing science and education.

In this episode, Greg Link, conservation and communications chief for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department talks about the program's importance.
