SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The number of active COVID-19 cases in South Dakota continues to climb and stands at 2,511 on Wednesday, April 67, a number not seen in more than two months as more new cases are reported in recent weeks. However, the number of those hospitalized due to COVID-19, while elevated in recent weeks, remains low, at 94.

Following are the South Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Wednesday, April 7. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.

Statewide case rates

  • NEW CASES: 295 (seven-day daily average: 212)
  • TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 2,511
  • TOTAL CASES: 118,975
  • TOTAL RECOVERED: 114,526

  • DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 13.1%
