The .12 inch of rain recorded at Walter Wieland Field last night did nothing to break a drought that has gripped the area since early July. The drought has made forests and swamps tinder dry and damaged valuable farm crops.

Backed by the three-hit power hurling of Kermit Aase, the Brainerd Braves whacked the Pierz Pirates 5-1 victory in front of 1,400 fans at Memorial Park. The win puts all four teams with one loss and one win in the double elimination Great Central tournament.
