FARGO — Four teens were referred to juvenile court after a fight broke out Friday night, April 30, at West Acres Shopping Center.
Officers from the Fargo Police Department responded to the disturbance, which involved a large group of fighting juveniles. According to police, the group quickly overwhelmed responding officers and mall security. The juveniles obstructed the officers by kicking and pushing them, police said.
More than a dozen officers ultimately brought the situation under control.
Four youths, a 13-year-old male, two 14-year-old females and a 15-year-old female, were released to a parent and referred to juvenile court.
The 13-year-old male was charged with obstructing a government function, which is when an individual intentionally obstructs, impairs, impedes, prevents, or perverts the administration of law or other governmental function.
One of the 14-year-old females was charged with obstructing a government function, simple assault and assault on a peace officer. The second was charged with obstructing a government function and simple assault.
The 15-year-old female was charged with simple assault.
