MANDAN, N.D. — A Bismarck motorcyclist died in a crash with a vehicle on Friday, April 9, in Mandan.

Theodore Heidrich, 53, was traveling east on a 2007 Kawasaki EX650 motorcycle on Memorial Highway in Mandan in the right-hand lane. Ronald Newman, 78, Mandan, was traveling west on the highway when he began to turn left onto Third Street Southeast. Heidrich attempted to avoid the collision but struck Newman’s 1997 Ford Taurus on the front passenger-side fender.

Heidrich, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, where he was pronounced dead. Newman, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

Road conditions at the time of the crash were good.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
