Jerry Edward Erdman, Sr., 68, of Park Rapids, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his home near Park Rapids.

He was born March 21, 1941 in Verona Township, Faribault County, to Glen R. and June (Jeffries) Erdman. As a youngster he grew up and attended school in southern Minnesota. He attended high school in Hackensack and Backus. He graduated from Backus high school in 1960.

He married Berneice Cunningham June 23, 1962 at Akeley Methodist Church in Akeley. They lived in Minneapolis for 13 years. While living there he worked for the Pan O Gold Baking Co. as an engineer from 1963 until 1974. In 1975 they moved to Park Rapids. He owned and operated Jerry's Volkswagen of Park Rapids for six years. He retired in 1987.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry Jr., of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters: Michele (Collin) Current, of Park Rapids, and Dawn Trauger, of West Fargo, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Russell (Hazel), of Lake Geneva, Fla., Jim Sr. (Becky), of Hackensack; a sister, Jeanette (Frank) Timmers, of Ely; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Casket bearers: Jim Erdman, Jr., Collin Current, Dale and Justin Fischer, Joe Schering, and Brent Trauger.

Funeral service: Monday, June 29 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids with Rev. Donald Bird and Andy Baldwin officiating.

Interment: Bethel Lutheran Cemetery south of Dorset.
