Last year, Anne was at Arts in the Park just strolling through the artist's booths. She came across the Golden Year Gift Shop booth on the north end of the park. Anne had been looking for embroidered dish cloths for her cabin at the lake and she found them in the Gift Shop's booth. She had a hard time deciding which ones were her favorite. Anne decided on the package that had one for each day of the week; her mom had made ones like that.
Along with the dish towels, she found bird feeders for her yard. Her grandson, Tommy, comes up to the cabin and enjoys the variety of birds in the lakes area. Now he will be able to feed and watch them when they are at the feeders.
Anne enjoyed the Gift Shop booth and found out that the shop is located at 803 Kingwood St. and open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the end of August, before Anne moved back to her year around home, she and her neighbor stopped in and found unique hand crafted items filled the shop. They both decided that they would make it a yearly tradition to visit the shop and bring with them their other neighbors.
Stop and see for yourself, the Golden Years Gift Shop truly has beautiful handcrafted items at great prices. It is located inside the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center in Brainerd. You'll also find us at Arts in the Park, on the north end of Gregory Park, July 5 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
DEANN BARRY is the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center director.
