A Cottage Grove woman was sentenced for methamphetamine possession.
A Washington County District Court judge on Jan. 6 sentenced Mandi L. Kielsa, 34, to five years probation after she pleaded guilty to fifth-degree drug possession.
According to the criminal complaint: Kielsa was in a vehicle stopped Sept. 22 by Cottage Grove police for traffic violations. After officers recovered 0.17 grams of methamphetamine that had been tossed from the vehicle, the car was searched. Police found oxycodone pills in Kielsa’s purse.
She pleaded guilty to the felony charge but the judge issued a stay of adjudication on a prison sentence. She must spend five years on probation, undergo random drug testing and comply with other conditions. She already completed an ordered 31 days of jail.
A second charge of methamphetamine possession was dropped as part of Kielsa’s plea agreement. She and the vehicle driver blamed each other for throwing the methamphetamine out the window.
