WATFORD CITY, N.D. — An equipment failure resulted in an oil spill at a well in McKenzie County, the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division reported Monday, Dec. 9.

Newfield Production Co. estimated on Saturday that 480 barrels of oil leaked from its facility. That amount is equal to 20,160 gallons. All of the oil has been recovered, according to the division.

The spill occurred about 6 miles west of Watford City. A state inspector has visited the site and will continue to monitor cleanup, the division said.
