Northeast North Dakota cops enhancing DUI-law enforcement
Regional law enforcement officers are cracking down harder this month on drivers driving under the influence, according to the Northeast Grand Forks Regional DUI Task Force.
Capt. Kyle Ternes of the state Highway Patrol said in a news release that there were "numerous drug and alcohol-related citations and arrests" in the region in 2013. "In my opinion, even one is too many."
Besides seeing people drive drunk, officers have reported seeing people driving while impaired by prescription drugs, the release said.
The regional task force includes the Highway Patrol, sheriff's departments in Grand Forks, Nelson, Pembina and Walsh counties and police departments in Grand Forks, Cavalier and UND.
